Lil’ Wayne gave full access to a film crew to follow him around and make a documentary about his life, and the DVD was just released, much to Lil’ Wayne’s objections. The film went to the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah in January of 2009, Lil’ Wayne seemed to enjoy it and so did his fans. Wayne has been trying to stop the documentary called ‘The Carter Documentary’ from being released on DVD.

Quincy Jones III produced the movie and has no idea why Wayne is trying to block the film from being released. Jones said that the wording of the lawsuit suggested to him that perhaps this is someone else’s idea and not Lil’ Wayne’s. Jones also said that Lil’ Wayne was specific about wanting a non-traditional film and that is what Jones delivered. A judge over ruled Lil’ Wayne’s objection and the movie was just released on DVD.

In the film, rapper Lil’ Wayne, 27 smoked, drank soda and prescription cough syrup mixed together, and toured the world. Wayne based his lawsuit on the fact that he was given final-cut approval, but everyone thought he loved it. Wayne hasn’t been clear about exactly why it is a problem.

Lil’ Wayne started his career as a member of the Hot Boys when he was 16. Wayne has recorded with hundreds of artists, from new school to old school including, Destiny’s Child, Robin Thicke and Chris Brown and has gained a good deal of respect in the industry.

The Carter documentary filmed important times in Lil’ Wayne’s life including when his album, The Carter III officially sold one million copies in its first week.
